01
Brief

Creating a product to spread awareness and provide support for the LGBTQ+ community

Given that many countries have begun to evolve to recognize homosexuality as a part of society, most countries still pose a major threat to the LGBTQ+ community, due to various factors such as political, religious, or low literacy rates. This has given an opportunity for the development of a website prototype that provides resources, support services and comprehensive information about the group. While providing a marketplace, to help the community access employment and homes without being discriminated against. The platform's main aim would be to remove the stigma of homosexuality as an unnatural element of society.

02
Design challenge

How might we make the process of providing non discriminatory services for the LGBTQ+ community so that they feel more included and safe?

How might we design melbourne maps for all the users to check the safety indicators of suburbs?

How might er educate all our users about the LGBTQ+ community, so that users can be more aware, respectful and educated?

03
Design Response

Since there is a lack of misinformation about the LGBTQ+ culture, it provided the opportunity to create a prototype App. Armari is an app that educates about and provides resources to the LGBTQ+ community.

04
UX Design

Based on intial research, competitor analysis and user persona we arrived at key features and establishing the UX process for the app

People could learn about different orientations the history, flags, meaning, and connect with organizations that provide dedicated services to various orientations. Users could also donate and receive a donation certificate.

We wanted users to be able to access important services like health care, therapy, and legal help provided by organizations that have no discrimination policy and are LGBTQ friendly.

Providing a safety indicator of all Melbourne suburbs for users to understand the demographics and overall safety.

We wanted the UX Design process to tie all of these varying functionalities effortlessly.

Armari is an app that educates about and provides resources to the LGBTQ+ community.

1. Using the flags and the brief background and definition of each flag, it educates users about the different representations.

2.LGBTQ+ community also struggles with therapy, health care, and legal assistance. The app showcases LGBTQ+ friendly organizations that assist in the above areas.

3.The app provides a safety indicator for all the suburbs in Melbourne in terms of Over all safety, Theft safety, and LGBTQ+ safety.

05
Onboarding & User Guide
The first screen redirects to the on boarding screens and takes user to a guide in the app to help increase familiarity.

06
Flags

The flag section holds the various different flags and information regarding the flags. It also includes the option to donate to particular community and generates a donation certificate.

07
Self Care services

The self care section, holds three contact information for each Therapy, Legal and Health organizations with their contact details.

08
Safety

Safety Part of the app contains safety indicators in terms of night time safety, theft, LGBTQ+ safety and physical safety. The area is divided on basis of the number of suburbs in Melbourne

09
Major challenges

Converted the map into induvidual suburbs without grouping them, and linked the portions induvidually.

Due to high number of flags, used pan fixing to create a boundary of contents which will be fixed and contents that can be scrolled within the app.

Based on remote user testing, due to covid -19 there were changes that resulted to redesigning a portion of the app functions, and process but towards the end with just minor icon placement user testing changes was accommodated with ease.
